CemBR publishes report on Namibia


Namibia is gripped by an economic crisis that has led to a significant reduction in cement demand in the last two years. The per capita consumption declined from a high of 340 KG in 2015 to an estimated 190 KG in 2018. Its integrated plants are operating at low rates driving indigenous producers to restructuring initiatives. At the same time, exports are a challenging proposition.

Recent oil price reversals have influenced the whole macroeconomic environment and had a significant impact on cement demand. Totally dependent on imported clinker Gabon now seeks to introduce an integrated plant.
